OUR ANNUAL FUNDRAISER IS BACK ON!

1st APRIL 2024 until 30 JUNE

This year all donations will go towards purchasing prepayment meter credit for Town Camp residents.

“What is a power card?”

Mparntwe / Alice Springs is home to nearly 600 households that have to prepay for their electricity. This system works in the same way as pre-paid mobile phones; no credit - no power.

  • More than 90% of these Town Camp households experience regular loss of power due to poverty.

  • The average frequency of disconnection for prepayment households is 55 times a year - more than once a week

  • When power supply is cut due to lack of credit, the average time before the tenant can reconnect their power is 8 hours.

  • Households experience ‘no power card’ all year - during the hottest summer weather and the coldest desert winter.

Your donation will go towards preventing this disconnection from power occurring and has the added bonus of being tax deductible

How to Donate:

Either hit the DONATE button at Town Camp Designs; https://www.towncampdesigns.org.au/ or email arts@tangentyere.org.au to organise payment by EFT or over the phone. Money donations are tax deductible and we will email you a receipt.

Tangentyere Artists and Tangentyere Council staff will purchase power cards for immediate distribution to Town Camp residents, and do so with an equitable and transparent system, to ensure we reach as many people as possible.

Thank you for your understanding and generosity!
