Town Camp Designs is a collection of products created by Ewyenper Atwatye, Tangentyere Artists and Yarrenyty Arltere Artists. We are a 100% Aboriginal owned and run art centre. All sales directly support the artists, with all profit going towards artists fees and future projects.
“What is a power card?”
Mparntwe / Alice Springs is home to nearly 600 households which have to prepay for their electricity. This system works in the same way as pre-paid mobile phones; no credit = no power.
More than 90% of Town Camp households experience regular loss of power due to poverty
The average frequency of disconnection for prepayment households is 55 times a year - more than once a week
When power supply is cut due to lack of credit, the average time before the tenant can reconnect their power is 8 hours
Households experience ‘no power card’ all year - during the hottest summer weather and the coldest desert winter
Your donation will go towards preventing this disconnection from power occurring and has the added bonus of being tax deductible.

"Reprising the bold visual language of iconic 80s protest posters to speak to issues that face us today, these posters protest climate change and its impact on the desert.
First Nations people are the first and will be the worst effected with fracking and the mismanagement of precious water resources - just two of many impending catastrophes." Thea Perkins
