Strong Families Book
This is a collection of stories from Aboriginal People raising children on Mparntwe Town Camps.
The Town Camp Movement is one story of Aboriginal Peoples’ resistance to colonisation, of Town Camps asserting the right to exist as legitimate communities.
The stories in this book are as diverse as the many countries, language and kinship groups across the central desert region to which Town Campers belong and are connected to but what remains consistent is their commitment to keeping their culture and their children strong.
They highlight the continued fight for equality, aspirations for their young people and the strength to resist, advocate and lead, which carries on through the generations today.
It is hoped that by sharing Town Camper’s stories it will deepen understanding, encourage the inclusion of their voices in the decisions that affect them and inspire lasting change.
